A dog breed a day in the hope of educating potential owners about the needs of their new canine companions.

The Irish Wolfhound is the mascot of the Irish Army and is the tallest breed of dog in the world, standing seven feet tall.  They are not a bulky dog since they needed to be graceful enough to catch wolves and elk but they still need a house with a large fenced in yard to run.  With their size also comes many heart and bone problems so the breed only lives six to eight years.  Although they need a large home, they do not need a large amount of exercise and their shaggy coat is a breeze to groom.  They are also a friendly, responsive breed so they make good family companions.  The Irish Wolfhound is truly a large, loving dog.
